Park Jean Moulin - Guilands

Parc départemental Jean Moulin les Guilands

Located near the heart of Paris, the 26-hectare Parc Départemental Jean Moulin les Guilands was created from the merger of two parks: the Parc Communal des Guilands in Montreuil and the Parc Départemental Jean Moulin in Bagnolet. These two parks, which have been extensively redesigned, now offer a leisure and relaxation area with multiple views over Paris and Montreuil.

Located in Bagnolet and Montreuil, Parc J. Moulin les Guilands is made up of open natural spaces, lawns including the "grande traverse", a vast green carpet running right through the area, and wooded areas providing welcome shade.
There are two play areas for children: one with water games, l'aire des sources, and the other a space for children with reduced mobility, l'aire du moulin.
The educational garden, which includes a practice area for the public, an orchard and an aromatic zone, is located between the Grande Traverse and the Jardins familiaux de la Fosse aux fraises - various activities are offered to the public (contact the park house).

April 18, 2024: the Maison du Parc Jean Moulin-Les Guilands is christened "Jacqueline Tamanini" - after the Communist resistance fighter from Montreuil, who returned from the Ravensbrück camp where she was deported during the Second World War. Before Ravensbrück, she spent some time at the Romainville fort (a former internment camp) during the war.

Fauna and flora

A veritable island of greenery in a highly urbanized setting, this is an original feature that gives it a very high heritage value. From the classic park with its regularly tended lawns, we pass through a shrubby wasteland, continue near the pond with its developing flora and fauna, and end up in a dense young woodland, further diversifying the natural habitats. Come and meet its inhabitants on your own or during a guided tour, and observe some forty species of birds, depending on the season. If you're lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of the Lesser Kestrel, the Common Meadowlark or the tiny Three-banded Kinglet. If it's insects you're after, you'll find them in great numbers in the wild areas, foraging from flower to flower or greedily devouring the fat grass. The park has been part of the NATURA 2000 network since 2006.
