The nautical sports centre at La Villette offers free initiation classes in canoeing and rowing for both adults and children. The classes take place at Bassin de La Villette which benefits from a space of 600 meters in length and 65 meters in width, between Place de la Bataille Stalingrad and Parc de la Villette. The former warehouse called Magasins Généraux located at 41bis, Quai de la Loire, has been completely renovated to accommodate the different crafts.
Rowers have a large choice of water sports at their disposal : rowing, two-seater canoe and one-seater kayaks (the only condition is to know how to swim).
The over 18s can join the free initiation classes every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to midday and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.(45 minute sessions) except in case of bad weather conditions. On reservation, book your session, call 01 42 40 29 90, on Saturday for the following Saturday session. Please provide 2 identity photos and your 50 meter swimming certificate.
This activity is available for children aged 12 to 17 years old from 9:00 a.m. to midday and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, except on school holidays, During school holidays, the nautical centre La Villette is open from Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. to midday and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. as part of the Sports Initiation center programme or for a one week course from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.as part of the Municipal school sports programme.
