La trêve is an artistic installation by Sophie Comtet-Kouyatet in the Basilique Saint-Denis as part of the Cultural Olympiad.
The installation combines photographs and fabrics, with a series of portraits, photographic frescoes and monumental costumes inspired by the Olympic Games of ancient Greece. Architectural and liturgical elements echoing the Basilica are also incorporated.
The characters, who represent emblematic figures of Greek social life at the time of the first Olympian Games, are embodied by forty residents of Saint-Denis and Aubervilliers and eight Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
The exhibition is on display in the nave, free of charge, and in the Royal Necropolis after payment of the entrance fee.
