Saint-Denis University Neighbourhood

It is in Saint-Denis where the university Paris VIII opened in 1980. In 2013, the National Archives moved here in front of Saint-Denis University metro station in the building designed by the Italian architect Massimiliano Fuksas.

Paris 8 University is located here but also the National Archives in Pierrefitte-sur-Seine right next to the metro since 2013. Even more incredible, the last market gardener in the town cultivates about 10 hectares of land!

The French National Archives moved from Paris to Pierrefitte-sur-Seine. This amazing building was designed by the architect Massimiliano Fuksas. The building is located just a few minutes from Saint-Denis University. It is possible to have a free visit of the National Archives.

René Kersanté, the last local gardener in Saint-Denis, grows aromatic herbs, white onions, lettuce, radish, spinach, zucchini-courgette, etc. sold in supermarkets and in Saint-Denis market. It is not the only one in Seine-Saint Denis. Indeed, contrary to appearance, agriculture in this region of Paris is well established.
