As for the former castle in Clichy-sous-Bois, Épinay-sur-Seine also claims that Gabrielle d’Estrées passed through here (1573-1599), the mistress of King Henri IV. If this has not been proven, the presence of Madame of Épinay, however, gave the place its fame. La Briche castle became the seigneurial hotel of Ormesson and then the property of the marquis du Terrail and , on 19th July 1908, the town hall of Epinay-sur-Seine.
The pavilion with veranda and a facade dating from the eighteenth century, is, today, the administration building for the town’s cultural Affairs. The building once belonged to Louis Georges Mulot. It is located in the developed landscape garden of the Marquis of Terrail. The remains of rockeries that surround the building date from this period. A vast three-hectare garden, Don François d'Assise later took great care in nurturing it. Local authorities acquired the whole lot in 1841 and the Mulot house sheltered the town hall until its transfer to the former castle of the Marquis of Terrail.
