La Fabrique de la Ville in Paris Saint-Denis is an architectural creation designed by Patrick Bouchain and Loïc Julienne (CONSTRUIRE), Pierre Schneider and François Wunschel (1024 architecture). It was imagined according to a didactic and original approach of urban archaeology as a prefiguration of the interpretation center of architecture and heritage.
A planned archaeological operation was held by archaeologists from the Saint-Denis Archaeology Unit at the foot of the Fabrique de la Ville, a scaffolding house in the heart of this urban place between 2009 and 2017. It is a 9th century defensive system to protect against the Vikings, a medieval district and elements of the pre-industrial Saint-Denis that have, among other things, been discovered!
The layout of the site suggests some of these discoveries. Beneath its contemporary envelope, the scaffolding house offers the visitor the opportunity to understand (from the very end of the 15th century to the present day) the different stages of urban development in the city Saint-Denis.
A visit to the la Fabrique de la Ville offers you an exciting history from the foundations to the roofs of Saint-Denis!
