In December 2021, Point Fort, a multi-disciplinary cultural venue run by the Villes des Musiques du Monde association , was inaugurated in the heart of Aubervilliers' former military fort.
More than just a venue, the Point Fort d'Aubervilliers is part of a cultural development project for the area, as part of the transformation of the site, led by Grand Paris Aménagement with the city of Aubervilliers (2019-2030).
The Villes des Musiques du Monde association has been appointed to develop a cultural and creative program. The site, currently being refurbished, comprises a 1,500m² hall, four casemates, two pavilions and a big top.
Drawing on 25 years of organizing its eponymous festival, the Villes des Musiques du Mondes association offers Point Fort a program that creates social and intergenerational links, with a focus on dance and world music.
The modular spaces can accommodate a wide range of events and activities, with numerous events taking place every week, bringing together a variety of audiences: Afro concerts, Brazilian music, hip hop, dance... See the Point Fort agenda on the website.
The emergence of this venue is also supported by the French Ministry of Culture, through the creation of a "scène conventionnée d'intérêt national Musiques et danses du Monde".
