The french football league cup is a knock out football league competition which is held every season. Contrary to the French Football Cup which is open to professional clubs and amateurs, the league cup is reserved for French professional clubs only. This competition is inspired by the English League Cup. It has been organized since 1994. The winner of the "coupe de la ligue" is automatically qualified for the Europa League.

The first final matches of the league cup took place at Parc des Princes Stadium in Paris. From 1998 to 2016, the final took place in Ile-de-France on the pitch of Stade de France Paris St Denis. PSG, a regular of Stade de France, won the last 3 Coupes de la Ligue in a row on the pitch of Saint-Denis.
