Gare du Nord is the largest European railway station in the number of passengers and the second largest station in reception capacity in the world. Gare de l'Est is located 5 minutes walking from Gare du Nord. The railway network Paris Est connects to the East of France and international with Eastern Europe, Central Europe and Switzerland. It benefits from the francilien network with Transilien trains, and urban Paris trains.

Canal Saint-Martin is located a few minutes on foot from Gares du Nord and Gare de L'Est station. The banks of the canal offer pleasant promenades, cafés and boutiques. The canal, the locks and swing bridges can be discovered during a cruise tour or during a walking promenade. The mythical Hôtel du Nord and banks of Canal St-Martin were shooting locations which can be visited during the guided tour on movie locations near Gare du Nord and the canal.
