Opening of the Picasso Exhibition at the Philharmonie de Paris dedicated to a representation of his music, real or imaginary instruments in his paintings, sculptures. In partnership with the National Museum Picasso-Paris, admire about two hundred of his works on loan from both private and public collections.
You can see the exhibition on the website of Paris Philharmonie :
Three themes: corpus, musical environment, instruments.
The creations by Picasso are structured by music, sound, singing, poetry… We invite you to study the works of art and lesser-known works on this relation to music through several of his artworks (La flûte de Pan, Les Saltimbanques, Violon and feuille de musique, Bacchanale...) paints or ceramics, sculptures.
Piscasso focused on popular music, the ritual aspect and soundscape of shows such as the circus, fanfare… In this part of the exhibition you will explore the culture and musical environments of Picasso. You will also learn about the many friendships made with great musicians (Satie, Stravinski, Falla, Milhaud…) with whom he worked.
The Cubist adventure introduced Pablo Picasso to many musical instruments: mandolin, violin, guitar, flute, clarinet… The hollow space of string instruments gave him the opportunity to foster an approach to volume and drawing. You can also appreciate twenty musical instruments exhibited for the first time.
