Galerie Ropac is once again presenting an exhibition dedicated to the painter Georg Baselitz, The Compass Points North.
This exhibition is presented on the occasion of the 85th birthday of the internationally renowned artist. It is composed of 5 series of paintings and ink drawings made between 2020 and 2021. By mixing fabrics and paint, Baselitz tries for the first time the collage. One of the series is devoted to portraits of Georg Baselitz's wife, Elke, whom he often represented. The Remix series uses the tulip motif from his paintings of the 1980s. Colorful and darker works are displayed side by side in the exhibition.
The exhibition Descente in 2017 offered a selection of paintings, graphic works and sculptures by the German artist Georg Baselitz. The painter exhibited reinterpretations of works by other artists such as Marcel Duchamp, Ferdinand von Rayski, Otto Dix, and his own pieces such as Die Grossen Freunde (The Great Friends). You could also see portraits of his wife Elke.
In 2019, the exhibition dedicated to Georg Baselitz Time was offered at the Ropac Gallery in Pantin.
