The Eugène Carrière Museum in Gournay-sur-Marne is presenting an exhibition on Eugène Carrière's relationship with photography from September 20, 2026, to March 21, 2027.
The exhibition features family photographs taken between 1900 and 1904. Eugène Carrière’s Photographic Universe is an exhibition that highlights the painter's openness to the new medium of photography, which captured his interest at a very early stage.
The exhibition also illustrates how his aesthetic of "blur" or "the unfinished" intersected with the explorations of photographers of his time, such as Robert Demachy, Stephen Haweis, Émile Frechon, and Edward Steichen.
You will be able to view works by the following artists: Eugène Carrière, Nelly Carrière, Jean-René Carrière, Louis-Henri Devillez, Eugène Marsan (known as Dornac), Émile Frechon, Stephen Haweis, Auguste Rodin, Edward Steichen, Félix Tournachon (known as Nadar), and Stanislaw Walery (known as Laryew).
The museum will be open free of charge on Sunday, September 20, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Heritage Days in Gournay. Guided tours are available, as well as a tour led by an actor.
The Eugène Carrière Museum is open on Sundays from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Guided tours are held every Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Admission: 8 euros; free for children under 12. Group tours require a reservation.
