Rise and shine, queens!

Debout les reines !

Debout les reines! is an exhibition of photographs of the heroines of La Maison des femmes by Louise Oligny. The portraits of these heroic women can be seen on the railings in the garden of Saint-Denis Cathedral Basilica.

This photographic exhibition is the result of La Maison des femmes' "Repairing the Intimate" self-esteem workshop, led by curator Clémentine du Pontavice and photographer Louise Oligny. This project is part of the treatment program offered to women victims of violence, cared for at the Maison des femmes in Saint-Denis.

Debout les reines! invited these women to redefine themselves as "queens" who decide their own lives by reclaiming their own image and drawing the contours of their kingdom. The photographs were taken by Louise Oligny, and the accessories, scepters and crowns were designed by visual artist Raluca Vlad.

This free exhibition on the garden gates of the Basilica of Saint-Denis, the royal necropolis where the greatest queens in French history are buried, is the culmination of this self-esteem workshop.

The Saint-Denis Basilica has hosted a number of exhibitions focusing on the figure of the Queen:
