Le Pavillon du Sommeil : vers la lumière !

Le Pavillon du Sommeil: vers la lumière! is an installation by artist Joseph Dadoune in the Cathedral Basilica of Saint-Denis.

Discover this unique installation specially designed for the north arm of the basilica's transept, near the medieval recumbent statues. The Pavillon du Sommeil: vers la lumière! offers visitors an immersive, contemplative experience, inviting them to a moment of introspection. Enjoy an exceptional view of the 28-meter-high ribbed vaults and admire the magnificent program of stained glass windows, bathed in light.

Inspired by the basilica's architectural richness, artist Joseph Dadoune designed the Pavillon du Sommeil, a unique golden rectangular structure with openings composed of colored plates and glass slats. The use of cobalt blue is a tribute to Abbé Suger of Saint-Denis, a pioneer of Gothic art in the 12^th century.

Access to the installation is free upon payment of the necropolis entrance fee.
