Romanov à St Petersbourg, d'une nécropole à l'autre

From to

The Basilica of Saint-Denis and the Peter and Paul Cathedral, grand-ducal mausoleum of Saint Petersburg, are twinned.

The “Les Romanov à Saint-Pétersbourg, d’une nécropole à l’autre” exhibition will be held in the six chapels of the basilica crypt: posters and commented images, objects from the fortress. Discover the well-known czars from the Romanov family: Peter the Great (1672 – 1725), Catherine the Great (1729 – 1796), Alexander I of Russia (1777 – 1825), Nicholas II of Russia (1868 – 1918).

What to discover during the exhibit

  • A mask mold on Peter the Great’s face, a hand print, a symbolic key of the doors of Saint Pierre (old ramparts of Saint Petersburg)
  • Pictures from the Romanovs’ royal funerals.
  • A digital presentation to know more about the Peter and Paul Cathedral in Saint Petersburg, a large necropolis where the members of the Romanov family are buried since the death of Peter the Great.
