From Music-hall to cinema: Son of two poor music-hall artists, the young Chaplin starts to do music-hall shows himself very early in his life. Talented, he soon becomes famous and manages to enter the world of cinema after a forntunate encounter.
A dancing body: Charlie Chaplin wishes to have a silhouette recognizable among thousands. That’s when the character of the Tramp comes into his life: He gives an image as comical as poetic to this role that helps him to be insolent in front of the camera for which he moves, mimes and rythmes the film.
Chaplin, composer: It is one of his less known hat. Behind the funny roles and scenes, Chaplin also wrote and composed most of the musics of his movies to make a contrast with the images and give a more charming aspect to his work.
During this exhibition at the Philharmonie de Paris, you will hear the musics of Chaplin while admiring the original pictures, the works of art and the rare documents that show the artistic intelligence of the one-man-band.
