Jardiner is the new temporary exhibition at the Cité des Sciences in Paris. It's a sensory and scientific exploration of gardening in the 21st century!
The Jardiner exhibition invites visitors to take an immersive, interactive stroll through current gardening practices, in relation to the environmental, health and social issues of our time. Conceived as an active stroll, the "Jardiner" exhibition asks: what does it mean to garden today?
There are six garden chapters to discover. They are inspired by real-life locations in Europe:
Each garden is a stage in a journey, from the most traditional to the most unexpected, revealing the wealth of interactions between plants and their environment.
Visitors are invited to contemplate art installations by artists and designers, who interpret the gardens through one of the five senses, and discover a portrait or interview with the gardener who inspired the garden chapter.
Showcases of the "unloved" are set up to make room for the garden's undesirables. You'll find a snail terrarium, nettles, moss, brambles, ivy and more.
The wasteland in the making: a central space for collective creation
At the heart of the exhibition, a symbolic wasteland links the various chapters. It also becomes a space for co-creation, thanks to the gardeners' fresco, a collaborative digital device. Each visitor is invited to virtually plant a seed associated with a word and follow its growth in an evolving fresco. This living, collective digital garden is enriched by contributions, reflecting the diversity of views and sensibilities surrounding gardening.
