The Centre Equestre de La Villette is located close to Cité des Sciences in the North of Paris. This horse riding stable has 60 ponies and horses for beginners and experienced riders.
The Centre Equestre - Porte de la Villette is situated in the park behind Cabaret Sauvage along boulevard des Maréchaux not far from the tramway T3b line. About 60 double-ponies, horses and Shetland ponies are proposed to allow you to discover horse riding or to pursue approved training lessons: dressage, horse show jumping, equestrian sports…
The center offers several equestrian activities and sports through standardized progressive training methods for all levels. There are different competitive events available but you can also ride for pleasure. The ponies are carefully chosen to ensure that everyone has the right one for their level of ability: from the 3-5 year olds (called Poussin, a French term to define the age of the group in sport). From the age of 5 they can ride ponies and depending on their level after that, confidence and instructor’s opinion) they can ride horses after the age of 10. Discipline and safety rules must be respected : riding hats and medical certificates are compulsory before registering for a season that consists of a semi-annual or annual fee. Of course you can register at any time of the year as pro-rata is applied.
The center is open every day. Classes are held on Monday and Tuesday afternoon, Wednesday all day, Thursday and Friday afternoon; Saturday all day and Sunday morning. The instructor can be contacted at the end of the afternoon.
Lessons fully devoted to school children are arranged throughout the year for groups of about a dozen children.
Training programs are organized during the school holidays. For one or two days or for one week, the center will lend you the compulsory riding hat. The classes can be fun or more technical depending on your level.
Sunday are devoted to competitions and events in the afternoon with ponies, Shetland ponies, horses. Indeed it is possible to do just a few hours of riding (for children or adults) on Sundays. The cost and schedules are set in advance: usually, activities for children from the ages of 3 to 6 take place on Sundays at 2:30 p.m. and from 4 o’clock lessons are devoted to older children and adults - beginners and advanced! It is a great way to spend a fun-filled Sunday afternoon.
