What is pop culture?

Pop culture refers to the popular culture of the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s, and even the 1950s and 1960s. Pop culture appeals to the masses, unlike more elitist cultures, and creates communities. Pop culture items are highly varied: toys, electronics, movies, music, clothing, accessories… Pop culture items are manufactured goods from the 1970s to the 2000s.

Pop culture includes geek culture, notably with manga, video games, and electronic devices that were state-of-the-art at the time of their release.

In the fields of interior design and design, pop culture is an extension of Pop Art, an artistic movement that emerged in the 1950s, whose members drew inspiration from advertising and communication to express their vision of the world and the new consumer society. One of the movement’s most popular figures is Andy Warhol.
